Marius
Dicpetris
is a jazz musician, composer, and bandleader from Saint
Petersburg, Florida. He received a masters degree in jazz studies from
The
Manhattan School of Music in 2004. From 2005 to 2007 Marius toured
internationally with the world famous Glenn Miller Orchestra. Marius is the leader, trombonist, and vocalist with the
New Orleans style jazz band, The Shiny Shoes Band. In 2011 they released
their first album, St Pete Speakeasy.
For the past five years Marius has performed with the eclectic, Florida based swing band Lounge Cat. In 2008
his trombone was heard alongside the band on the nationally
syndicated television show, That Fishing Show, on Fox Sports Net.
Marius's trombone has taken him on a journey that has included hundreds of performances in the New York City area. With his group, The Shiny Shoes Band, he was featured at the staple Manhattan jazz club, Cleopatra's Needle. Marius' has had three NYC residencies with his band including; Cafe Notte, on the Upper East Side; Stop 125, on the Upper West Side, and McAnn's on First, in midtown Manhattan.
In 2000 Marius won the prestigious Frank Rosolino Award, and was featured at the 2000 International Trombone Festival in Utrecht, The Netherlands. Marius holds the distinction of having performed in all 48 of the contiguous Unites States.
